A composition for guitar ensemble by Franz Thiem and Philipp Seidel
Der Drachenberg is a special, epic work that I composed together with Franz Thiem in my youth for the German Orchestra Competition. The premiere of this impressive work helped us to win the competition. The composition is characterised above all by its exciting dramaturgy, symbolically reminiscent of the ups and downs of a mountain. The very catchy rhythms and themes at the beginning are brought to a climax with dragon-like power by the guitar and its special techniques such as rasgueados and percussion effects. This is followed by natural overtones as an echo, and a modulation leads back to the conclusion, which recalls the opening theme of the work.
Due to the request of friendly guitar orchestras and ensembles, the download of the work is offered here free of charge.
